Who says the Muslims hate Jews?

Today (and tommorow) the Muslims are fasting (puasa) to commemorate the day when the Jews were saved from the Pharaoh by creating a path in the Red Sea. The Jews call this day as Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).

Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year in Judaism. It is a day of atonement and repentance for Jewish people. The Jews would spend this day by fasting and intensive prayer in synagogue services. The Torah designates the tenth day of seventh month as a holy day to fast.

The seventh month is referred to as Rosh Hashana by the Jews. The word tenth in Hebrew is Asharah (He:עשרה). This day is also celebrated by the Muslims as the day on which the Jews were freed from the Pharaoh. The Muslims call this day as Ashura.

Ibn Abbas narrates that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the tenth day of Muharram.

He asked, "What is this?" The Jews said, "This is a good day, this is the day when God saved the Children of Israel from their enemy and Moses (Nabi Musa) fasted on this day."

The Prophet said, "We are closer to Musa than you." So he fasted on the day and told the Muslims to fast. (reported by Bukhari and Muslim)
